At The Local Pickle, we are more than a Premier Indoor Pickleball Facility; we are a common space for all ages, families, and communities to come together — forging new friendships, strengthening existing ones, and fostering business and professional relationships.
Nancy and John Herbst, passionate owners of The Local Pickle, discovered their love for pickleball after moving to Hilton Head six years ago with their grandson. Nancy, an experienced business owner, and John, still working full-time, recognized the need for indoor pickleball and envisioned a welcoming space for all ages, with a special focus on youth development through programs like the Youth Academy.
Their commitment to the sport and community is reflected throughout The Local Pickle — from top-tier courts to the family-run café led by Nancy’s sister, Shannan Baiocchetti — creating a warm, inviting hub for players and visitors alike.
With over 20 years of restaurant experience, Shannan Baiocchetti leads The Time Out Café at The Local Pickle with a passion for great food and seamless service. Originally from Connecticut, she’s managed everything from fine dining to fast-paced kitchens, bringing efficiency and hospitality to every role. Now based in Bluffton, Shannan is certified, community-focused, and also a competitive pickleball player. Her energy and expertise make the café a vibrant part of the Local Pickle experience.
Passionate about pickleball and helping others grow on and off the court? We’re always looking for energetic, dedicated individuals to join our mission. Whether you're a seasoned coach, aspiring instructor, or just love the game, come be part of a community that's making a difference—one player at a time.
